Popken Fashion Group is an internationally-operating, family-run fashion company specializing in plus size fashion. The collection of our four brands Ulla Popken, GINA LAURA, Studio Untold, and JP1880 are being sold in approximately 600 stores, as well as through our online shops with more than 3,600 employees in over 30 countries. A vertical business structure, grown steadily over many years, as well as the more and more differentiated multi-channel strategy have been the decisive factors for our expansion up to this point. From Small Textile Company to Fashion Group

In early 2012, Ulla Popken GmbH and GINA LAURA GmbH & Co. KG merged under the umbrella of Popken Fashion Group. Getting there has been strongly imprinted by demanding challenges, wonderful people, a strong family commitment, and great visions. Small overview of important milestones.

• 1880
Johann Popken establishes Textilhaus Popken in Hameln / Germany.

• 1968
Friedrich Popken, grandson of Johann Popken and his wife Ursula open the first maternity specialty shop Mami & Baby in Oldenburg.

• 1977
Klaus Dirks establishes Buddelei-Mode GmbH & Co. KG A fast growing network of branch offices forms.

• 1977-1984
A nationwide chain of stores and a mail-order business are set up. In addition, Ulla Popken starts as franchisor.

• 1986
First test of sending plus sizes by mail order look promising.

• 1987
Ulla Popken – Young Fashion starting at size 42 and up is registered into the Commercial Register. The first ten Ulla Popken stores open in the same year.

• 1991
Extension of business activities and the first of many expansions.

• 1993
Astrid Popken, daughter of Friedrich and Ulla Popken, and her husband Thomas Schneider establish Ulla Popken Ltd. in the U.S.

• 1999
Launch of Ulla Popken online shops.

• 2008
Generational change: Thomas Schneider takes over the management of the Ulla Popken GmbH in Germany.

• 2010
Launch of GINA LAURA online shops.

• 2011
The menswear label JP1880 is introduced by mail order. The first JP1880 stores open in the same year.

• 2012
Establishment of the Popken Fashion Group. After the acquisition of GINA LAURA GmbH & Co. KG, the brands Ulla Popken and GINA LAURA are united under the umbrella of the Popken Fashion Group.

• 2015
Establishment of Young Fashion Labels Studio Untold.
